You need to do a couple of diagnostic tests to help us track down the problem.
1. Create a new user account in
 > System Preferences... > Users & Groups
Does Notes have the same problem there?
2. Start up your mac in Safe mode by powering off, then powering on while simultaneously holding down the 'shift' key. You can release the key when you see the grey  logo with a progress bar underneath. When the progress bar completes, log in to your normal account (NOT the one you created in Step 1 above) and test Notes. Does it do the same thing in Safe Mode?
3. Finally, restart the computer and start up normally. Test Notes. Still crashing?
1. You should open up mail and let it update its database
2. rebuild mail by going into mailbox in the menu bar then rebuild
alternatively
disable all accounts in mail, contacts and calender preferences then open up mail
Ultimately once mail has been udpted mail should run fine
I do everything you said.....the only thing that works was in the other user I made.... but even in Safe Mode quit... thanks
not clear....
1. Click Finder in the Dock, then click 'Go' in the menu bar at the top of your screen.
2. Hold down 'option' on the keyboard and choose 'Library' from the menu
3. Navigate to the folder called
Containers
Inside that folder, move the entire com.Apple.Notes folder to your Desktop.
(the full path is ~/Library/Containers/com.Apple.Notes/ )
Relaunch Notes.
Any improvement? If not, move that com.Apple.Notes folder back to where it was and report back here.
Ok, are all your email accounts IMAP or POP?
like is it a gmail, hotmail etc?exchange server?
@softwater...I had the same problem as OmarZB, but dragging the com.Apple.Notes folder to my Desktop solved it. Are there any next steps, or should I just leave the folder on my Desktop?
The only reason to move it rather than trash it in the first place was for safe-keeping i.e., to make it easy to put back if that didn't solve the problem.
If the problem is resolved you can delete the folder on your desktop. It's not doing anything by being there.
This question is about the Notes application, not about Mail. This is totally irrelevant on Mountain Lion.
I've donde that, and still quitting! 😢
Ok, I tried moving the com.apple.notes folder to my desktop and Notes almost worked but then quit again. Help!
I am having the same problem. I wish Apple will come up with a fix that actually works.
IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!
I have exactly the same problem.
Everything is ok and up to date on iPhone/iPad/iCloud Beta 🙂 but my on my Mac it crashes always... not any way to solve this. My notes are only used by iCloud, all others accounts I uncheck the Notes box
I am having same problem ANYONE find a fix??????
